How does the branded backup program work?

With the XZ Backup reseller program you’ll purchase a block of space in our data centers that you can resell to your clients. Our white-labeled online backup software allows you to put your name and company logo on our solution, so you’ll have the benefit of our security, backup, and recovery functionality all under your own brand name.

How does branding work?

Your clients still back up to the XZ Backup infrastructure, but the software, documentation, domains, and reports can be customized to display the company and product name of your choice. Branding is provided free of charge to any XZ Backup reseller that has signed up for the minimum amount of storage.

How long does branding take?

The branding process is quite simple, and provides two methods to get the software branded and customized to your liking. Either provide us with a high-quality company logo and we can customize all the required images and icons for the branded backup software for you, or download our templates and provide all the images required for the branded backup software yourself! Marketing materials are also available and provided for your branding needs.

Where is my data located?

Your data is located in a Tier IV SSAE16 certified facility in Tampa, FL or Maidenhead, UK if you choose our UK option. More info on our infrastructure can be seen here

Is my data safe?

Yes! We maintane 3x copies of all data in our Ceph cluster across multiple failure domains. Our datacenters are N+1 design and 24×7 staffing and meet compliance with SSAE18 SOC-1, SOC-2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and NIST 800-53PE standards.

Can I use my own infrastructure and servers to receive backups?

This is a completely hosted solution managed by us. There is no need to buy servers, manage equipment, or worry about support or troubleshooting headaches for the entire infrastructure. You can worry less about if the system is operating properly and spend time on what matters, your client's backup data.

How often am I billed for my disk space and licenses?

All resources required by the reseller system are billed for on the first of every month. This means that if you ever upgrade or order more resources mid-month they will be pro-rated to the 1st of the next month. There may be times that you will pay for next month's bill if you order resources near the end of the month.

Can I set my own prices to sell to my customers?

You define the prices that your customers will pay for the solution. We have no direct interaction with your customers so what you charge them is up to you. Since we strive to stay completely transparent with the branded backup software, the control panels, and reporting, your users should never know about our solution.

Is XZBACKUP HIPAA compliant?

Yes, all data, when backed up, is compressed and encrypted using an encryption key that is never shared with us, prior to ever leaving the user's machine. HIPAA ultimately states that the data must always be accessible and can only be accessible to the medical pracitioner's office.

Can XZBACKUP see any of the backed up data?

No. We cannot see any backup data. We can however read file names and directory structures as they are required to provide control panel based services as well as keeping indexes of your backup data. Any actual data within those files backed up are not readable whatsoever by XZ Backup or it's staff. Since no encryption keys are ever transmitted to us and you send already encrypted data we have no way of decrypting your data.

If I lose my encryption key or passwords can XZBACKUP help retrieve them?

No. Any and all passwords, encryption keys, and the like are never stored on our system. We will never be able to recover any lost passwords of encryption keys. This means that if you lose your encryption key then you effectively lose access to the data stored on our systems.
