Speed Test

Find out your connection speeds

Why have a speed test?

At XZ Backup, we want you to have as much information as possible to make a decision about your backup solution. With online backup, one of the concerns is the upload and download speeds that can be sustained by the provider's servers. Sometimes companies will throttle their clients, essentially capping the speeds at which they can backup and restore their data, a delay which can be costly.

XZ Backup grew from a web hosting company and we have more than 10 years of experience managing the backend operations of our servers. Our datacenters in Tampa, FL and Dallas, TX are on multiple-redundant gigabit connections managed by one of the top backbone providers in the world. We can assure you that we do not throttle your connection, most home users and even some corporate users should be able to attain their full upload/download speeds when backup up or restoring from our servers, and to help prove it, this speed test is running on one of our Tampa servers. Using it will allow you to get an approximate idea of the speeds you will get using our service.

Select your connection type above to start the speed test.

Please be aware that the test can be affected by a number of variables, programs on your PC that use your internet connection, especially P2P applications should be disabled or closed before running the test. If you share your internet with multiple PC's using a router, usage on one pc can affect the available bandwidth for all of them. Other considerations, such as network congestion outside of your local connection or that of your ISP, should also be taken into account. For the most accurate results, run the test multiple times over the course of a few days to get a good average.
